the heart of el paso

ive always driven past these murals, but have never really looked at them with detail.i see them all the time when im on the free way and heard about them in the new regaurduing the freeway construction, but that satuerday moring i really got to appreciate what was there and what is still standing.

towards the back of the park, were alot of the older more originals. the painting, coloring, style and over vibe really were soemthing to look at. alot of the older ones had women in what i thought a very strong story. they were very very muscular, and from what i saw werent shown to be anything below the the man. To me it showed women on how they are a strong part of our stories.then moving down the line to the newer murals, i feel were so much more amazing, the details, the colors and overall idea behind them made the murals a little more under stable i think. My favorite two were these. Ive always loved the catrina. The colors, the style, the history of the catrina has always intrigued me, and the second i thought was brilliant, showcase the past and current situation. An Aztec princess of the south side. Also the small paining on the basketball backboard was nice too, kinda a small reminder to keep fighting.
